Maybe 1997 but still, Depeche mode sounds like the 80's and even more with Simple minds. I would pitch the instrumental by one semitone up for a better effect.

Funny, this week 2 mashups with the same instrumental came up.

FYI, William Sheller is the most famous french-american artist i know (or the only one ?), with a long career since the 1970s.

Yes. amazing timing on the instrumental use.
DoM never mentioned using it when I saw him in the sauna.

tried that pitch adjustment, but I didn't take to it the same. Might be me, though.
