Hi all,
This is my first post here !
I've been making mash-ups for 5 years, with a lot of 80s new wave mixed with classic rock and electro, many of them with video ! Here's a start with my Joy Division and New Order mash-ups :
Joy Division
New:
Joy Division, U2, Nirvana - Smells Like Vertigo Exhibition Spirit
= Joy Division - Atrocity Exhibition (1980)
+ Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (1991)
+ U2 - Vertigo (2004)
"Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, This is the way, step inside"
Neon & Joy Division - Love Will Tear Sky Diver Apart | Arte Minore Deejay Bootleg Remix
= Neon / Ben Richardson - Sky Diver (1979)
+ Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart + A Means To An End (1980)
If New Order is "Joy Division gone disco", what if they had gone Italo-Disco instead ?
Joy Division & Alain Bashung - Fantaisie Passover
= Joy Division - Passover (1980)
+ Alain Bashung - Fantaisie Militaire (1998)
JD in French ? Why not, Alain Bashung was a french rocker with a dark and complex musical universe, and was himself a fan of the band.
The B-52 Division - She's Lost Control On Planet Claire | Halloween 1979 special
= The B-52s - Planet Claire (1979)
+ Joy Division - She's Lost Control (1979)
+ Twilight Zone intro (1960s)
Joy Temptation - Papa Was A Dead Soul | Joy Division & The Temptations :
= Joy Division - Dead Souls (1980)
+ The Temptations - Papa Was A Rolling Stone (1972)
Archive & Joy Division - Numb Isolation
= Archive - Numb (You all look the same to me, 2002)
+ Joy Division - Isolation (Closer, 1980)
Check out the version with Madonna's vocals:
Madonna, Archive & Joy Division - Ray Of Light | Numb Isolation remix
Phoenix & Joy Division - Disorder | 1901 remix
= Phoenix - 1901 (Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, 2009)
+ Joy Division - Disorder (Unknown Pleasures, 1979)

A wonderful mix. The contrast elevates all well. Great vibe to it.
Joy of Voodoonoma - The Mexican Radio Transmission | Wall of Voodoo, Joy Division, Kat Onoma
Yeah! This is another very good mix. You sure know what you’re doing.
Joy Division & Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi Dawn Fades
My favorite so far. Never heard a mashup like this, & I loved it.
New Order & David Bowie - Doubts Even In America
A very strong creation. Appeal factor is very high for me.
The XX & New Order - Murderised
& this is now my favorite of yours. A tremendously satisfying work.
You sure know what you’re doing. The vids are a bonus treat, as well.
Again, thanks for coming around. You’re always welcome.
( Pardon my late responses, I’ve been overwhelmed puttiing
together the Sumer Booty 2021 project. )

If New Order is "Joy Division gone disco", what if they had gone Italo-Disco instead ?
This one is for all the Italian fans of Joy Division who are very knowledgeable and passionate, and all the Italian DJs on Sowndhaus.
I will post some more soon!
About the female vocal, i was wondering who you were referring to (i didn't remember mixing Joy Division with a female artist yet, but maybe in the future...).
That's a guy named Thom Yorke (from a band called Radiohead... i think they're gonna be famous some day). You can see in the video above how he is possessed by Ian Curtis's ghost in his dancing !
= Phoenix - 1901 (Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, 2009)
+ Joy Division - Disorder (Unknown Pleasures, 1979)
Archive & Joy Division - Numb Isolation
Then I switched the vocals with Madonna's Ray of Light, and reworked the mix a bit, and here is :
Ray Of Light | Numb Isolation remix
I will try more genre-clashing mixes in the future.
A spooky mash-up to celebrate Halloween :
= The B-52s - Planet Claire (1979)
+ Joy Division - She's Lost Control (1979)
+ Twilight Zone intro (1960s)
= Joy Division - Passover (1980)
+ Alain Bashung - Fantaisie Militaire (1998)
Joy Division in French ? Why not, Alain Bashung was a french rocker with a complex musical universe, and was himself a fan of the band.
The title track of the Fantaisie Militaire album had a similar dark vibe and fits well here.
